University is the next step for dedicated, 71 year old John Lord. It’s a starter for ten when he continues his studies at Manchester Metropolitan University to pursue his career in German.
John is a retired North Reddish Primary School teacher who now likes to make frequent trips around Europe with his wife Barbara. In the past, they have both experienced the difficulties of not being able to speak other foreign languages, and deciding it was time for a change. With Germany and Switzerland being the destination of their regular trips abroad, they both chose to learn the German language.
John and his wife divided the four years of study between Hyde Clarendon Sixth Form College and Tameside College. Their studies began with Conversation Skills, before progressing onto GCSE German Language and A-Level German Language.
John shall begin studying for his ‘BA (Hons) German Studies’ in September. This degree will consist of four years study including the 3rd year being spent in Germany, as a classroom assistant within a German School.
